I live in gratitude every day of my life having been born in 1981 with a surrounding that shaped me into an ambitious, strategic, intuitive person. By 1991 I was given a computer and a modem and began to thrive in sub-cultures, some of which became mainstream. All of which created vibrant memories and created many friendships all over the world.
I love the era we live in. I’m genuinely optimistic and believe we’re among the luckiest generations in history. Wherever people are struggling, and whatever challenges arise, we now have more power and resources than ever to solve problems and improve conditions.
I believe that the single most valuable ingredient for human beings is encouragement. In a lifetime of fostering communities, we have tried to create structures leveraging the Internet that focus on constructive outcomes. At DeviantArt, we created a global competition in every category of art that had a following behind it— This competition (at first) lasted 24 hours, 3 days, 1 week, 1 month and All Time. The effect that this system has contributed to the Internet for 25+ years is hard to quantify, but I know that it is countless forms of Mostly Good(tm).
I’m attracted to Jungian psychology and it has been very helpful to me both personally and interpersonally. I love unique people. Perhaps at the root of it, I love to observe the most interesting people I can find. Often times they are artists, entrepreneurs, engineers, designers, lawyers, or people of the Earth- Farmers, gardeners, fishermen, hunters. Sometimes I’m surprised by the person next to me on an airplane or at the table next to me at a diner. Predictably, I like human condition (street) photography, and many other human art forms.
I love purposeful communities because I like watching people who are aimed at a goal. In my observations, I tend to find more efficient & creative ways forward. Looking back, this tends to be how I contribute to communities and organizations.
