I live in gratitude every day of my life having been born in 1981 with a surrounding that shaped me into a strategic, intuitive person with neoteric ambitions. By 1991 I was given a computer and a modem and began to thrive in sub-cultures, some of which became mainstream. All of which created vibrant memories and many friendships, and helped to form perspective, intuition, and knowledge that lent itself to the next neoteric adventure.
I love our times. I subscribe deeply to the idea that we are the luckiest generation(s) to ever live. Wherever there are people who are struggling, whatever problems we face, we have more power today to solve and improve conditions than we’ve ever had before.
I believe that the single most valuable ingredient for human beings is encouragement. In a lifetime of fostering communities, I have tried to create structures leveraging the Internet that focus on outcomes. At DeviantArt, we created a global competition in every category of art that had a following behind it— This competition (at first) lasted 24 hours, 3 days, 1 week, 1 month and All Time. The effect this system has contributed for 25+ years at scale is hard to quantify, but I know that it is countless forms of Good.
I’m obsessive about Jungian psychology. I love unique people. Perhaps at the root of it, I love to observe the most interesting people I can find. Often times they are artists, entrepreneurs, engineers, designers, lawyers, or people of the Earth- Farmers, gardeners, fishermen, hunters. Sometimes I’m surprised by the person next to me on an airplane or at the table next to me at a diner. Predictably, I love human condition (street) photography.
I love communities because they are made of people aimed at something.
